Like all my other big HF items this was bought on sale with coupons. Mine is a older one with green motor and without the handle cast into the top. I've had it 3 years.
I bought this tool mainly for metal work in my shop. I found only one problem. On mine the cover on the exhaust duct below the table is plastic and when sanding steel the sparks that cause it to get hot and melt. On new ones in the store this part is cast iron.
Table adjustments could use some improvment but doller per pound this is a good buy. HF sells cloth backed disks and they are the ones to get.

I've been using one of these for 3 years now. Paid $80 on sale, a deal. I was surprised at the quality. Mine runs perfectly true. No vibration issues since it's well balanced. Power is more than enough for everything I do. It has a nice handle cast into the top of the shroud, which helps to carry it but it is heavy.

I paid $100 on sale, it is worth every dime. I wish it was easier/faster to get the thing apart to change the paper disc but all makes are about the same in this regard. Plenty of power. A 12" sander is the one to get - the replacement paper is cheapest in this size. Don't bother with HF paper though - it's worthless. You want only good paper since it's a pain to change.
I'm going to grind down the rim of the shroud that surrounds the disc. On mine, the rim stands about 3mm proud of the paper surface and sometimes gets in the way.
My only complaint is the cheapo miter gage, which is sloppy and inaccurate.. Fortunately I don't use the miter gage often with this. If I did I would modify it or get a new one.

Way better than I expected. Very heavy duty construction and runs perfectly true. The table tilt needs beefing up. I replaced the screw in pin with another lock down knob and it works well now.
