This does work. Once the frame is set up and locked in place it is sturdy. Until that point, it is a crazy nightmare waiting to happen if you're setting up the saw yourself with no assistant. You have to put the stand's pegs through the corresponding holes in the frame. This sounds easy until you have a 40-lb saw and armature on one end, virtually no weight at the other, and the scissor design for the stand wants to expand (read: collapse) under it before you get the saw locked in place. It is really a job for two.
Once it's locked and ready, the thing is pretty darn good. It's the getting there that's heinous. They could have made it far, far easier by including even a single adjustment rod that keeps it from scissoring apart.
