I've had a couple of these. They seem reasonably accurate. One stays in my suit jacket pocket, so I can take quick readings in church, see if it's too hot in here.

I use this one all the time. I've used it for checking CPU temperatures to calibrating heated lamination machines. Uses a standard coin battery, 2035. Simple use, point, click and you've got a temperature reading, as simple as that.

Got this on sale for around $9. All I can say is that it works as advertised. I don't have any way to check the calibration, but I have a bunch of electronic thermometers inside and outside of the house. When taking a reading of the housing of the thermometers, the temperature is within +/- 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit. I'm not sure which device is the inaccurate one. But for the price, I don't think one can expect more.
