I bought this saw in August 2012 and went to use it in May 2013. It was stored properly.
It worked for five minutes and went dead. I used it to cut a small fence post down.
I emailed HF to the Tech email. After a week I got a reply they couldn't help me. The saw has a 90 day warranty!
I thought maybe they'd at least say, Send it to us, we'll take a look.
But that's not the case.
A follow-up email went no where.
I called them again and they gave me the Tech number again!
I'll never buy anything from this company again.

I purchased this saw to cut some rebar for a project. I used the saw hard and made over 100 cuts in 1/2" rebar and I think the saw was in better shape than I was at the end of the project than I was! I paid about $20 on sale with a coupon but even at $30 I think this saw is worth the price. As others have said- the blades that come with it are garbage and may as well be thrown away but since it uses standard blades it is easy to find higher quality replacement blades at any hardware or 'big box' home improvement store. I haven't had any projects that required the swivel motion of the handle but it feels like the handle clicks nicely into place in the rotated position so I'm sure that feature helps in certain cutting situations. Overall a great value. Highly recommend.

Bought it to help a neighbor tear down a shed, it worked excellent, plus I looked badass doing it!

On sale 4/17/11 for $29.99. Used it with a 'demolition' style blade from a big box store to cut through a galvanized gutter downspout; made short work of it. I would recommend buying your blades from a more mainstream source (Sawzall type), but other than that, this is a real winning buy. Recommended.

Great saw. Cuts through everything I put it on without binding up. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the shoe vibrated off of mine. There are 2 screws holding it on that are hard to get to with the rubber boot on. No biggie, I had to cut off the rubber boot to reattach the shoe, then wrap the rubber back on with electrical tape. One other thing I don't like about it is that when you're done cutting, the motor doesn't have a brake on it. The blade keeps reciprocating until it comes to a slow stop. Not safe for someone that's used to using a sawzall that stops as soon as you take your finger off the trigger.
