I bought this tool to replace an expensive name brand unit that one of my coworkers at the time "Lost" when I was on vacation and he decided to raid my road kit. When both he and the shop refused to replace it, I decided that it wasn't my job to outfit them any more. Bought this one on sale based on just the price; figured that if I didn't have to replace it within 6 months I was ahead of the game. 6 YEARS later, the only maintenance I've had to perform other than keeping it clean is repair the cord (the weakest thing on it) and clean out and repack the gearbox and spindle bearing with grease.
As long as you treat it with a little respect it works well. Just keep in mind that it draws only a little more than half the amps that the name brand units pull; if you want to get into a power war, you'll be very disappointed.
I own several name brand units as well, so when I'm on my time I've got some heavies to call on. I still might pick up a couple more just so I can set each one up with a different wheel or disk. If I ever need to replace this one for work, I'll be getting another one just like it (especially if I'm the one who has to pay for it.).

I have 3 of these for 2 years now. Waited for them to come on sale at $19.99.
Tough as nails and made with ball bearings. Cannot say enough good things about them. HF even includes an extra set of brushes though I have not had to use them yet.
Excellent value for the money.

I have been using one of these for years, and do agree that it might be one of the best values at Harbor Freight. Also, I bought it for one specific use, but ended up using if for lots of things; this is a very useful tool to have around. Only downside is sometimes I wish I had bought the 7" model.

This grinder is, I believe, the best value to be had at Harbor Freight. The grinder just keeps on going. If you wait for these grinders to go on sale you can get them for about $15.
