A nice set of taps and dies, more complete than others I have purchased. I just finished tapping and threading some M12 X 1.5 threads and was very pleasantly surprised to find this set contained what seems to be a bit unusual metric thread size. I have a couple other sets and they did not.

The threads cut mild steel with a bit more effort than I anticipated, so I'm thinking these might not be the sharpest taps and dies, but they worked and the finished product threaded into each other and the original with no issues. My set is a couple years old and comes in the steel box/tray which I think I prefer over the newer plastic case.

I see the exact same set (brand name and all) for sale on eBay for a few dollars less than Harbor Freight is selling it for. I suppose the benefit of buying from the store would be if you have an issue with it, the return would be much simpler.

KEEP YOUR RECIEPT! These supposably have a liftime warranty. I have both the metric and SAE versions of this kit. I dropped the large tap handle and it shattered. Several taps of both sets seem to be of the same mediocure quality where the cutting edges break off. They are good for cleaning out existing holes but questionable for cuttings threads.
They might deserve a 1 instead of the two I gave them.

The larger sizes included are handy when they work.

I bought this to compliment my ACE/Hanson SuperSet SAE set. The taps and dies are tough but not super sharp - this just makes them a little hard to start. This is still an excellent buy because you would have to pay hundreds$$$$ for a USA made set. Note: The Harbor Freight carbon steel tap & die sets are useless!!!

I have the SAE and metric sets of these for the large sizes. My Vermont American ones only goto 1/2 inch and 12 mm respectively. These sets have the large sizes you rarely use, but really need occasionally. They are good enough, that i feel no need to buy other taps and dies that are 14mm and up, and over 1/2......................These have done a fine job when I needed a large tap or die.
